Why would....?

Question

People abuse their animals everday, i just don't understand.... they get the animals for them to be their companions in life right, so why should they abuse animals that they love?, and also the ones that love them back? Animals aren't meant to hurt anybody. I am a big humongo fan of animals, espcially dogs, and i can watch the shows of abuse to animals, but I question myself, " Why should people buy pets as their friends, if they're just going to abuse them???"

There are often many horrible reasons for animal abuse. Quite often, the abuser is a person suffering from some kind of mental illness or drug/alcohol addiction. The biggest problem is that it is never easy, or even possible, to tell which people will abuse their pets. When selling an animal to anyone, I believe a full criminal record check should be carried out, alongside a doctors' note confirming that this person is in a fit mental state to own animals.
I realise that will probably never happen though, if only the government felt it was worthwhile to do such checks in order to prevent the unnecessary deaths of many innocent pets. Of course, it would not be possible amongst private sellers and buyers, in which case, if the seller is an animal lover, they will quite often visit the buyers home to check that the animal can be suitably cared for.
Quite often, animals are neglected as a result of people buying them on a whim, and then later realising they don't have the time or money to look after their pet, so just leaving them in rotten conditions, half starving and wasting away. Remember that slogan, "A dog is for life, not just for christmas"?
Animal abuse sickens me. I guess some people are just evil, and actually get enjoyment from buying animals, simply to make them suffer and torture them in the most horrible ways. As with violence amongst humans ourselves, there is no possible way to prevent all violence towards animals.
I like to donate to the NSPCA once a month, and at least I feel that I am contributing towards helping these poor animals in some way. Maybe you should consider it yourself?
The people who abuse animals are scum, and I only hope and prey that they will rot in hell, and be tortured themselves someday.

unfortunatly, there are cruel and twisted people in this world. some people get the animals and either don't bother to take care of them, or they beat them or somthing like that for no reason. If someone abuses an animal they're cruel and/or twisted and shouldn't be in public

In order for someone to love someone else, whether a person or a pet, they need to like themselves. If you can't like you, then you can't appreciate or love anyone else.
They seem to normally have issues , usually the need to dominate everything and everyone. They don't feel good about themselves, don't feel that they deserve to be loved, and make sure that no one loves them thru their actions.

I understand your question...I don't get it either. They're just ignorant and dont know how to deal with an animal. It's very cruel.

normally its cause they don't love animals....they want a dog that lies in the cornner and does nothing.....also cause they dont think....they don't realize the time and cost involved in a pet when they get it...some just get them cause they look nice and when they don't do everything that they think they should they hurt them......plus a lot of them don't get them for pets but rather protection and they don't love them......

maybe they have troubles in their life and they just need to let the anger out on someone (in some cases on animals)

i really don't get that either. i despise people who do that, but the only people who know why they do it, are the people who do it :(
