I'm afraid someone will read them and try to pass them as their own. Do you know of any websites I can go to in order for this not to happen to me?

You do not have to do anything to copyright material produced by you. Federal copyright law automatically protects anything that is your intellectual property. If you post it publicly you need only include something that says "Copyright" or the copyright symbol, your name, and the year in which your work was produced. You may register your material with the copyright office for a fee, but it is not necessary to protect your poems under federal law
