Judging from our lack of success in Iraq, I'd say the US has already met its equal. Gen. Douglas MacArthur said "In war there is no substitute for victory." Well, the US has been in Iraq for four years today, and there is no victory in sight. Imagine what the situation would be for US troops if the Iraqis had artillery, armored vehicles, and air power! What's really insane about this whole thing is that the neo-con chicken hawks who control Bush are actually seriously planning to attack Iran also. I'm afraid that the USA is experiencing a moral and ethical breakdown.

No one is their equal at the moment. While China has the manpower, it does not have the weapons that the US has.
It will be many decades before any one nation can even match the firepower of the USA. If they were truly brutal then they would just have nuked the whole of the Middle East. Thank god they are not and are only following orders from a corrupt President who will have God to answer to, at the end of his life.

We could handle it for a while, but more countries have developed biological and nuclear weapons, that the only way to really solve anything without total annihilation is a cold war.
