what is the difference between an architect and a draftsman?

im doing a career research report and i want to be an architect, but ive heart stuff about a draftsman and im confused about the difference...

Draftsmen draw other peoples specifications and do very little thinking. No creatively, no planning, just do what you are told. On the up side there is little stress.

Architects not only design, but make sure everything is compliant. Architects are required to get plans approved when building a home or any other structure. This is where the money is. Also, if you have vision and creativity this is a better career path.

An architect designs the building, a draftsman is the person who draws it. Basically the difference is the Architect takes into account principles of design and could draw it himself, but the draftsman is usually not as knowledgeable about design, specifications, ect and basically does what he's told.

It's kind of the same as how an Electrical Engineer would design the complex electrical components to a building (sizing transformers / designing double ended switchgear and doing load calculations), but an electrical designer would do the grunt work of putting the outlets/switches in the AutoCAD drawing.
