Darfur is in the north east of Sudan's Republic. There are some clashes between it's residents as result of cold war by US against communists in Sudan and Libya in the last 30 years nearly. They need real development to stabilize peace in this part of Sudan not foreign military forces to copy Iraq's crisis.

The Darfur conflict is an ongoing armed conflict in the Darfur region of western Sudan, mainly between the Janjaweed (translated: "devils on horseback"), a militia group recruited from the tribes of the Abbala Rizeigat (Bedouin Arabs), and the non-Baggara people (mostly land-tilling tribes) of the region. The Sudanese government, while publicly denying that it supports the Janjaweed, has provided money and assistance and has participated in joint attacks with the group, systematically targeting the Fur, Zaghawa, and Massaleit ethnic groups in Darfur.[1] The conflict began in July 2003. Unlike in the Second Sudanese Civil War, which was fought between the primarily Muslim north and Christian and Animist south, in Darfur most of the residents are Muslim, as are the Janjaweed.[2]

Darfur is a vast place.Maybe you should go there and have a look at it yourself and meet people. Then you will know why it does matter. The rise of fundamentalism is a cause but the real cause of the problem is deeper.More than 35 years of civil war.
The place has become hell on earth for most people. This has also to do with climatological changes.Darfur in the North is a very very dry place now.In the past they used to get some rain. One book I reccomend to you is Michal Asher (Penguin Books) Death of the Earth,Forty Days Road and some more.
I myself have only been to North Sudan just across the Ethio border.

Genocide is why you should care. People are being severely brtaulized. The world, especially the US, tends to care less when the genocide is of people with dark skin. People who support the Iraq war say "Saddam is a monster and he needed to be taken out of power". Well there's hundreds of regimes that are far worse than him, where's the outcry for those other people?
Please, read the newspaper and look things up. Don't count on your local news to tell you whats going on in the world.

I like the previous answerer who put the blame on the US. He had his geography right, anyway. Look at any or all of the major world conflicts going on today. Islam is in the midst of nearly all of them.
Iraq insurgents vs US - Islam
Iran vs US - Islam
Palestinians vs Israel - Islam
Pakistan vs India @ Kashmir - Islam
Rebels vs Philipines - Islam
and of course,
Darfur genocide - Islam
One common denominator.
The question is: Is the world against Islam or is it the other way around?...

this is exceedingly humorous. in case you were paying any interest for the previous, oh - i don't be attentive to, countless THOUSAND YEARS OF historic previous, you would be attentive to that non secular followers like muslims (and christians) do in comparison to absolutely everyone this is distinctive than themselves, and could kill, rape, brutalize, and otherwise subjegate absolutely everyone who would not conform to their cultural standards (or perhaps then you certainly stand a sturdy risk of having somebody factor the finger at you). as quickly as you wake the f**ok up, and supply up eating the kool-help, it unexpectedly will become lots clearer why there is not any answer in the middle east. those everybody is loopy, and with the help of taking facets (or helping the two facets) we aren't helping absolutely everyone yet people who desire to proceed to unfold chaos.
