Personally, I don't think there should be more field trips. When a student goes on a field trip for one class, they are missing valuable instructional time in other classes. A large number of students going on these trips will not be in the mindset to learn. In order for these students to learn effectively, the teacher must have control over them in such a way that being in a classroom provides. Although some students will come away with valuable information from field trips, the vast majority are going to remember what happened on the bus ride and not even listen to the seemingly boring facts the tour guide told them. Many field trips are more about fun and less about learning. Having fun is great, but it needs to be saved for after school. Sadly, school isn't about fun.

Not really. By the time we get to high school (I'm in 10th grade) field trips are just kinda asking for a disaster. You learn more in school anyway, and I just as rather spend the day at school with friends not in all of my classes then somewhere else.
And as for middle school, I had 4 a year and 5 in eighth grade, and I was perfectly content with that.
Field trips get old after a while, but 1 or 2 is nice!

Good question and yes I do. I learned much more on field trips than in class and so did my children, it evens the playing field between the various types of "learners" there are, not everyone can sit and look at a book or take notes and learn....I would support more field trips all the way.

It depends. My school had a week long one at the end of every year. They were all hell except for the one I went on when I was 16 because I finally had friends.
They can be great but the group dynamics are strange and the girls always end up falling out because they can't share a dorm effectively. Generally no one gets on with the popular people and the normal people do some great networking. The usual trouble makers don't get up to much and the good kids get in a lot of trouble (because they are not used to the freedom).

yes defiantly. I'm in the 7th grade and I'm taking a field trip at the end of the month. I took one to the youngest school in my school district, and I'm going again next week, but I guess that really doesn't count as a field trip.
I think that if the elementary and high-school students would be more enthusiastic about school if we got more fieldtrips. To make them workd harder, I'd set a "boundary." Like if they got 2 detentions, they couldn't go ont he field trip.
So yes, we should get more field trips.

yes i think middle schools and high schools.should because some kids find it hard to seat in class and just listen to the teacher.some kids like me find it more easier to go on field trips and learn things.field trips are important b\c you can learn more and more things that you have never learned before in your life.so i say yes.

i do think they should, but the problem lies w/whether or not all of the kids will behave. i have been out of school for many moons and we took trips when we were in high school, especially for elective classes. kids were more obedient then and not so willing to break the rules. it is a shame that many suffer at the hands of few, but i can't blame the schools for stopping off campus activities.

Yes field trips help students to visualize, rather than read or hear about something, more field trips the more students prosper.

ABSOLUTELY! it's so wonderul to be able to get out of the classroom and be able to learn in a different atmosphere. Honestly, kids get bored learning in the same desk daily. A field trip enables them to learn something completly new and exciting instead of reading from a book or working on some sheets. My vote is absolutely, 100% Y-E-S. Of course. :D
