I think that IHOP did the right thing......there are many people who will never accept same sex relationships. To go in to a family restraunt and to behave this way is wrong. Take back to the club....

IHOP should make their decision based on what is legal for them to do and then what is best for business. If more of their regular clients are offended by what ever action than are not offended, IHOP is making the smart business move. If they can financially afford to alienate a large group of customers across the US by doing what a small group of customers wants they will lose money but then that would be their choice.
Since they are a family restaurant they probably need to keep from offending the bulk of their customers, with in the limits set by the laws.
If a few customers were being rowdy and were bothering other customers, IHOP would be in the right to kick out the rowdy people, so that their other customers could enjoy their meal in peace. Same goes for a few customers who are exhibiting behavior that other customers do not want their children to see, for example. Same sex obvious displays of public sexual affection would no doubt be very offensive to many Bible believing straight people. I think IHOP might very well lose a lot of good business if they allowed such displays very often and became known for such allowances. Even straight couples showing a lot of sexual affection may be asked to leave for similar reasons.

I would hope that they would kick out anyone that was making out in the restaurant. If there was a gay and a straight couple making out at the same time and they only kicked out the gay couple, that would be wrong.
I'm straight and I have no problem with someone that is gay, I think it is ignorant to hate someone because of their color or lifestyle.

There is a time and place for everything. IHOP is not the place for amorous behavior and a club or bar really isn't a place you expect to see a Bible Study. I agree with everyone here, I do not want to see two people making out on a bus or park bench, much less as I'm trying to digest pancakes with maple syrup and butter. Regardless of what gender the people are.

I don't think they should have been kicked out. I go to all kinds of places and sometimes I see heterosexual couples making out. A restaurant may not be the best place for it, but a paying customer is a paying customer. If you don't like it - YOU don't have to look! Turn your head, act like a grown-up, eat your food and mind your own business. Gay people get stuck looking at the heteros inhaling each other's faces but we just look somewhere else. Your comparison of bringing the bible into gay bars isn't a fair comparison because the IHOP is for everyone, and it's NOT like gay people were infringing upon it or would actually "harm their business."

They can refuse service to anyone at any time for any reason. They would probably kick out a straight couple making out too, there is a time and place for everything. IHOP was neither. Nobody wants to see people make out while they eat, gay or straight. Especially since IHOP even has a dish just for them on the menu, rooty tooty fresh and fruity breakfast.

They weren't making out. It was a peck on the cheek, the same type you'd give your grandma.
IHOP was WAY over the line and a couple of ticked off local homophobes would be a far better "loss" of business for IHOP and would cost them less than a Nationwide BOYCOTT will.
Once again Pinkie and his disingenuous posts fail to even present an apt analogy, those thumpers you mentioned would be HARASSING the clientelle, something the two patrons of IHOP were not doing at all. No Comparison.

I don't think it had anything to do with the fact that they were gay. If I owned a restaurant, I would kick out any couple that was making out (gay or straight). Nobody wants to see that when they're eating dinner.

If anyone was making out in my restaurant I'd throw them out. Regardless of straight or gay. People don't want to see that while eating. It's the restraurants right to say if a customers behavior is inappropriate. Which they did. IHOP was not in the wrong.

I don't think anyone should be making out at IHOP. Now, I read the article, and it said they were at IHOP at night. I have seen several straight couples making out at IHOP late at night. Also, they were not making out, the people at IHOP were just upset because they peck kissed, and they were girls. It seems to me, from reading the article that they were kicked out because they were lesbians and they were being affectionate. That's not cool, but it is legal, unfortunately.

If IHOP would have kicked out a straight couple for making out, then there is no problem them kicking out any two (or more) people for making out.
This is not a gay/straight issue. This is a public display of affection issue.
