Hi First you need to know which kind of RAM your computer uses. Newer ones use DDR or DDR2. These have 184 and 240 contacts and a slot so they only go in one way. The next thing is speed. There are a few different speeds but PC3200 is a good start. Next is size. 512MB to 1GB is a good start as well. Cost is based on speed and size but 1GB is around $100 (US) or so. Putting it in is easy but you may want a friend to help the first time. Good luck!

Edit: http://www.crucial.com/ has a scanner that will advise you on what you need.

This page includes some good tips and a tool to find out what kind of RAM you should get: http://www.cyberwalker.com/article.php?id=41
Use the tool to find out what kind you need, then go to http://www.newegg.com/ , which has good prices (prices depend on how much you want, and the type of RAM) and excellent service. If you buy RAM online, buy it there.

Also, there's a good guide to physically installing RAM here: http://www.helpwithpcs.com/upgrading/installing_dimm_memory_ram.htm
good luck!

First off, you need to find out what kind your computer needs and how much memory it can hold. I would suggest you take your computer to a computer technician if you don't know how to change out hardware.

Memory prices range. You can look for them at:
