Jimi, because he invented that style. No one before him had ever played like that. I'm not knocking SRV, but Jimi paved the road for many guitarists, including SRV and Kravitz, who doesn't hold a candle to either.

Jimi all the way. I've never really cared for Stevie Ray Vaughan's music although I do respect him and fans and appreciate the fact that yes he is a good great guitar player as well. I just find Stevies music kind of boring I was stranded stranded in a crossfire it doesn't really sound that creative his lyrics. Just sounds like typical blues songs that have already been played in the 40 fifties and sixties. I will say this about Stevie Ray Vaughan that he was the last great blues player

Jimi Hendrix was just born before his time. Stevie Ray may be a bit better but only because of better technology

Stevie was cleaner, Hendrix was better, IMO. Plus jimi's voice doesn't make me want to die.

I like Jimi's style more. It was more free flowing. I also prefer Jimi's song writing. Stevie is still pretty cool tho.

Jimi. he was by far the most innovative musician to ever walk the earth. in a nutshell, he paved the way for all the guitarists after him--including Stevie Ray. However, I wouldn't slight Stevie Ray. dude is an amazing guitarist.

VERY VERY hard question. Both of them are masters of their time, both of them are with out a doubt, guitar legends. However, they do have many similarities but also very different. The thing about music, you can have 2 different people, sing and/or play the same song...and it sounds totally different. That is because, music has an individual quality to it. I would hate to have to chose between the better musician, my best answer for you is...both, each of them are great in their own, but unique and individual styles of music.
