my son is 2 months old (was 7lbs 15oz when bron) and is now around 13 lbs. He feeds (breastmilk) 7-10 times a day and i assume he drinks around 1.5-2 oz at a time, since that is the amount i give him when i pump.

Is his weight gain abnormal? I was told by a friend that infants double their body weight only when they reach 6 months. Is that true?

EVERY BABY GROWS DIFFERENTLY.

If you child is gaining weight, and you are both happy, don't worry about what the "norm" is.

You may be getting 1-2 oz when you pump, but be sure your baby is eating more than that. Babies get more than a pump, always.

Babies will only eat when they are hungry, and most stop when they are full, We program them differently as they get older.

I wouldn't worry about what others say is right or wrong!

Congratulations on Breast Feeding!

Most generally babies will double their weight by 6 months and triple by a year....but that is just an average. Some babies grow more some less. My oldest daughter weighed 13 pounds at 2 months old.....everyone thought she was big(and she was) and would have problems....even had a doctor tell me I was feeding her too much. When she started crawling and walking alot of the chubbiness disappeared and she is now a slightly smaller than average 6 1/2 year old.

At two months old my son was taking in 3 ounces every 3 hours round the clock. Your son is growing fine dont worry about it, offer him more milk see if he will take it babies dont know to over eat they just know to eat til they are full and to eat when they are hungry..

extremely his rfile ought to offer you innovations b/c we don't understand his scientific circumstances if any. Failure to thrive? perhaps his previous he wasn't getting appropriate food? it ought to take a little time, yet with a healthy food plan and extra energy he ought to strengthen. At this age there is not any cut back on fat intake. i'm no longer asserting to feed him mcdonalds or something, yet perhaps giving the 2d degree formulation insead of total milk or including different severe calorie meals in to a sturdy food plan.

i know my daughter was able to get more milk when she breast fed. b/c when i tried pumping the milk i only got an ounce. but, my daughter was drinking 2-3oz. i know this, b/c i had to supplement with formula, she was underweight at 4lb 9oz.

your son probably gets more out of breast feeding then from breast pumping.
