You need to be checking on a regular basis to be able to tell the difference and recognize your cervical changes. The easiest way to check yourself if usually either sitting on the toilet or standing with one foot up on something. (Like standing with one foot up on the side of the tub.) Make sure your nails are well-trimmed and your hands are clean.

When you are ovulating, your cervix is "SHOW."

SOFT -
Normally, your cervix feels pretty firm, kind of like the tip of your nose.
When you are ovulating, your cervix will feel softer, more like your cheek or your lips.

HIGH -
This is comparitive, so you have to be checking regularly to recognize it. When you are ovulating, your cervix will seem higher up than normal and will be harder to reach.

OPEN -
Normally, in the middle of your cervix, you will feel a little indentation or dimple. This is the os, or opening, of your cervix. When you are ovulating, it will feel more open, more like a hole, and you may be able to slightly insert your fingertip. It will feel kind of like having your lips puckered up to kiss someone.

WET -
When you are ovulating, you'll have what is known as "egg white cervical mucous." Your cervical mucous will increase in amount and will be clear and stretchy, very much like egg whites.

There isn't a huge enough difference to really tell. The muscles around it just relax a bit and it becomes softer for two reasons: obviously at assist in giving sperm a chance to reach eggs, but also because if an egg does not become fertilized soon, the uterus lining will be shed (and it comes out through the cervix).

The cervix is the opening to the uterus [somewhat like a mouth] - ovulation prepares the cervix to easily accept the man's organ

It ability that it opens to allow sperm to pass into and locate the egg. the only thank you to be for beneficial which you're ovuating is to pass to kmart, walmart, walgreens etc... pass to being pregnant try area and get ovulation sticks to pee on. it is going to detect your ovulation hormone and supply you your ultimate risk to get pregnant. Thats what i did and it worked the 1st time! Now she is 5 months old. good success!!
