No. Organized religion is a tool to keep the masses under spiritual control. There's a difference.

Historically yes. Religion used to be the repository of cultural knowledge and acted as unifying institution.
More recently, in Europe, in the dark ages, Religious war of Catholicism versus pagan and Aria Christian was the rallying cry to (forcibly) unify disparate tribes, establish the modern states of Europe. Again, Church maintained knowledge like writing and education of the nobility helped unify and organize modern governments. And of course Church teachings kept miserable peasants placated.
Today not so much. Mostly now religion is no longer a power center, more a business and life advisor, that occasionally calls for moral crusades against modernity to keep themselves relevant in the public realm.
Religion in the mideast is still like medieval ages. Government works with religion to help placate the unhappy masses.

Religions have created an ecosystem of intimidation which prevents the medial from managing religious concerns, objectively. working example: religious opposition to start administration has the aptitude to usher with regard to the top of humankind as all of us comprehend it. Overpopulation can, and little doubt will, consequence in nuclear wars that mankind would be no longer able to stay to tell the story. all people attentive to the perils linked persevered out of control inhabitants improve is acquainted with this, yet, for the main area, the media would not checklist this. This on my own makes faith a substantial social concern in and of itself.

A bunch of grown men wearing togas, living communally, most of them never holding down a real job, telling the REST OF US how to live OUR lives...... based on some old writing and hocus pocus incantations with a little sandalwood incense......
I never understood why anyone fell for that.
One technicality - I'd leave out government - unless the Church is the government in question or unless by organized religion you include all collectivist doctrines.
But yes - it's all a scheme to control us by f-ing with our heads.
That said, there's only one major religion the founder of which, the main books of which and many practicing members of which are into cutting OFF heads....
Again - moderate Muslims, instead of calling me a bigot for pointing out the absence of distancing between you and the violent strains of your religion, please stand up and reject those violent strains - - including their sources.
Thank you.

If you are speaking about the religion on Demosocialism, then yes you are correct. The Democratic party is about control of the masses. Depending on your actual religious belief's, God doesn't need control, he already has it. It is up to humans to decide what we want to do. We contol ourselves. So the answer is no.

It always has been. Since the dawn of time men have used religion as power.
Christianity was created because of the Roman Empire's influence in the world at that time.
Most of the Bible's parables are stories designed to be the direct antithesis of Roman culture.
Maybe, just maybe...if one freakin time Mohammed, Jesus, God, Vishnu, Buddha, etc. would drop down and show their faces, then we wouldn't have to have "faith"!
But they never do. They do not exist outside of the minds of people.

Yes.
Religion was invented to help people cope with death by providing a comforting explanation for why people die and what happens to them when they do.
But it mostly gets used as a tool for controlling people.
