I own the purple Dyson Animal and it is phenomenal, the only thing that would make it better is if I could teach my cats (4) and one dog to use it on their own...
I owned several other vacuums prior to this, and spent more money putting them in the shop for repair and cleaning due to clogging and not picking up that I decided to spend the money on a Dyson.
I have owned it close to five years now (it will be five years in a few months) and it is fantastic, great pickup and very maneuverable; it doesn't kill my shoulder to use it.
I also have allergies, and the filters are easy to clean and really help keep the air clean in my house.
I have since purchased the new handheld Root Six to replace several styles of dustbusters, and the money I am saving on bin filters is going to pay for the Dyson in a very short time.
It is very encouraging to purchase a product that does exactly what the company has claimed. I guess we don't see that too much any longer.
I always joke and say it almost makes me want to do housework....almost....ha, ha.
Have a good day.

If you are looking for a really good vacuum cleaner, that is, one that can last more than a couple of years, I highly suggest a Kirby. I found the latest Kirby model a couple years ago on Ebay for $250.00 refurbished. Some people think refurbished and see a red flag, but I haven't had any problems and it sucks really good (in a good way...hehe).
I've tried all the others, even the ones that go up to $300.00, and I'm always having to replace them. Kirbys typically range from $1,000 to $1,500. I'm not saying that the more you pay the better, but Kirbys have been around for 90+ years and have an excellent reputation. Again, you can find these online, even ones not refurbished. Many people buy the newer models and sell the older ones. Even some of the older ones work 100 times better than the ones you are considering. If interested, I provided their website to understand their cleaning concept and products. Also, craigslist.com might have used Kirbys for sale.

I've heard that Dyson's are amazing. However, I grew up using an Electrolux that was older than me, and my parents STILL have it. And it's still the best vacuum. I guess go with the Electrolux for it's longevity!

I actually have a Dyson and it options up cat hair splendidly. I actually have 3 cats so that's needed. It receives the hair out of the rugs, carpets and furniture. that's likewise tremendous at getting dirt out of the rugs, and so on. we are at present renovating and we've dirt, drywall dirt, and dirt and the Dyson receives all of it! I in undemanding words recommend the Dyson.

I have had every vacum on the market. I purchased a Rainbow. It is by far the best investment I have ever made. It is pricey but well worth it.
