How many of the people who support Bush in Yahoo Answers have friends, family, sons, daughters, etc. over in Iraq right now? How would you feel if two Marines in dress blues came to your door and informed you that the son or daughter you raised, took to ball games, went to school plays for, picked up from football practice was killed? Would you question why? Would you question authority, the same authority that sent your son or daughter to their death? Would you even allow yourself to ask why? I know that cowards will answer this question with insults and such which will prove the worth of their opinions. Just trying to provoke thought.

Would you rather your own family member be killed in a car accident, or in the act of saving your life? Obviously, nobody wants a loved one to die. But there is some consolation if they die in noble act like saving the life of another.

Everyone dies, it's just a question of how.

Whether you recognize it or not, the battle in Iraq is a noble cause. Better to die there than as one of the 160,000 Americans that have died meaningless deaths in car accidents over the same time period (4 years).

My son is a volunteer member of an all volunteer military. He will be going over to Afghanistan again within a few weeks. He has served in Iraq 3 times. How would anybody feel to get the news that their loved one had died? It would be devastating, your life would never be the same. I am sure there would be second guessing and questioning, there would be in ANY circumstance of someone who had lost their life so young. But in the end I would know that he did what he WANTED to do and BELIEVED in doing. But it would never be easy and you would always wonder. Just like any parent would wonder "what if"...if they lost a child.
While I am at it, my son is very well educated and he comes from what would be considered upper middle class republican family, since so many seem to think that military are so uneducated and underprivileged and that republicans don't "send" their own children. My son WANTS to serve his country and I am proud of him and of all who serve. .

No family, possibly some old military friends.

My father served as a Marine for his duty, then in the reserves. My brother just retired last year from the Army, having served in Korea, Haiti, and Kosovo, etc. I was in the USAF for 5 years.

I already know what happens when people are in the military, and what can happen to them. Death is a part of it. So, no, I would not go through that kind of thinking. And even if I did not agree with the mission, if my child believed in what he was doing, then I would feel compelled to honor that belief (unlike, say, Cindy Sheehan).

I have many friends there. They are my heros. I would be very sad if any of them were hurt or killed, but I would know they were persuing their passion, doing something honorable, and putting service ahead of self. Everyone will die. Will you die doing something good, doing something bad, or making no difference at all? I do question authority, was raised too. I was also raised to take a stand, survive, watch out for my brothers and sister. I thank EVERY person in the US Military for helping us survive. BTW, I had a co-worker and a friend die at the WTC. My dad worked for Pan Am and lost friends over Lockerbie. For anyone reading this, what have YOU done to help stop terrorism in the world?

Several of my Friends are in Iraq. It would be the Same in anyother war this has nothing to do with Bush i know what it is like to see someone I love in Camo going to fight for our country it was my dad. Bush was not president then and I would not feel hatred Tworad our leader then or now if he had died. My dad is home now in A wheelchair from a motercycle accident because of a choice he made that had nothing to do with a war. Just like when he sign up for the MC it's was his choice. I'd feel the same way if it was my Son or Daughter.

I SUPPORT THE U.S Marines The Other Milatery Branches And George Bush. God Bless The U.S.A OORAH

I know a lot of people in Iraq, most of them are contractors, though. Thankfully, no one I am particularly close to is over there, but many, many of my friends have close friends and family members in Iraq -- in and out of uniform.
To answer your question though, I resolutely stand behind my country and it's participation in the war on terror. I support my president, and the troops fighting for my freedom. One can never predict how one will react under the extreme conditions you describe, but I would like to think that I would, through the grief, continue to support my country, my president, and my troops with the same degree of equanimity.

I support President Bush and have been to Iraq. Volunteered for another tour. My wife, mom, dad, and sister all support me and what we are doing in Iraq.
We are there not only to help build a free Iraq, but also to ensure that two terrorists don't come up to your door and kill your entire family. We are there to try and keep the same scene from happening in Iraq - they have kids too. We are there to bring stability to a region that threatens all civilization.

Yes Gabriel, I have two children in Iraq as we speak and I do know that the knock on the door could come any minute. But this is America because of people like my kids who chose to join the military. How about why are muslims blowing up muslims????????

I support bush, and the war against the terrorists.

My nieces husband is serving in Iraq right now, and my nephew is in Marine basic training right now and will deploy when it's complete. I also have several friends and co-workers that have been in Iraq or are there currently... we pray for them, and their families.

evaluate this. heavily, take a 2nd and picture approximately this: the american militia soundly defeated the communists in Viet Nam in each and every significant conflict fought - which incorporate the TET offensive which properly overwhelmed them. For all purpose and objective, the North Viet Namese have been defeated - yet they checked in with the american media and, to their utter amazement, they discovered that they've been triumphing. And, genuine adequate, we misplaced the conflict at domicile and withdrew our troops - assuring the Viet Cong a victory and the ensuing bloodbath. Do you rather think of this little bit of historic previous is misplaced on the terrorists? because of the fact of this i've got faith that public reflects and rallies geared in the direction of our president in a time of conflict is the comparable as helping our enemy. this is rather no longer that puzzling to connect the dots.
