There should be a show on Fox, 'Everybody Loves Superman.'

Well, not everyone. I like Superman, I buy a few of his comics when they look good, but overall, he is just not one of my favorites. He can fly, has super strength, hearing, sight, x-ray vision, heat vision ... I mean what CAN'T he do? They had to bring in Kryptonite just so someone could have a chance of beating him. Kryptonite and other aliens, nothing else can come close.

Compare Superman to Batman, Captain America and the like and he is in a league of his own. Sure, Batman is smart and has even come out on top against Superman with his wits, but a straight fight, Bats is screwed. Cap, same thing only now his shield is broken and he looks up to Superman with tears in his eyes, "Why not just rip apart the flag you Commie?!"

Wolverine, he would get a few scratches on Superman, maybe. And he would survive the battle, but win? Nope.

Optimus Prime before Superman is a bad *** semi-truck transforming leader of the Autobots. After Superman, he is a waste paper basket that talks. (They can sell the action figure with the transformer cassette tape.)

Hulk. Hulk may have a shot, but in Marvel vs. DC, that fight was very disappointing and guess what, yup, Superman won.

Who likes a Hero that wins EVERY time? Where is the danger for that hero? (Don't bring up Smallville, it does not enter comic continuity and it's a glorified soap opera with superpowers.)

I'm a big fan of flawed heroes, the ones that have to actually work to win. Hell, sometimes they die but that is better then a guy that just flies around and can't be hurt by earthly means. I like some of Superman's stories, but for the most part I stick to Batman when cruising the DC section. Sorry!

I like him. I think that if we tried to get our children to start to believe in what he stands for instead of the other violent questionable characters kids seem drawn to today, we would actually see some sense of humanity in children. I am not saying that kids should think that Superman is real, but he his values are very real. He stands for truth, equality, up holding the law, and respecting other people's rights and quality of life. He is also devoid of selfishness.

The problem with kids not wanting to read about him and mimic his values is that comic companies are exploiting the dollar and not the ideal. They have spent the last 20 years trying to change him and make him less significant compared to other characters. They have done this by depowering him, giving him a lesser role on Super Power teams, giving him weak story lines, and even promoting other darker characters such as Lobo and Batman by making them seem more powerful than Superman. I say that they need to restore him to what he was in the 70's and early eighties. Develop more powerful enemies that can only rival Superman and would crush other heroes. Also, DC should treat their franchise character as that and not a second tier hero.

Superman is an icon..not only in comics but his symbol is everywhere T-shirts,wallets, lunch pales. And alot of famous actors and sports figures like Shaq have Superman tatoos.
Superman is a great charater. He always does the right thing even if it's gonna cost him in the end. Superman is one of the best characters around..He has survived as a character since 1938-1939...He has staying power. And everyone knows who you mean when you say Superman.

I like Superman, he is a good man and a great moral teacher. He inspires people with the feeling that they may not be powerful like he is, but they can be good and moral like he is. Captain America was that way, too, until they did away with him recently.

Jesus is all that, plus He is Almighty God in human form, before Whom we must all someday bow and give an account of ourselves. Since people are already trying to remove mention of Jesus from polite discourse, it is not surprising that they would also go after other moral examples such as Captain America and Superman.

Superman is a difficult character to write well, but that is not Superman’s fault!

Superman is the pinnacle of super heroism in my opinion. The top dawg as they say. Because he tries real hard to protect people who are'nt even his same species. He can easily rule the world if he chose to, but he does'nt. His powers are focused for good. He is an icon. EVERYONE knows who Superman is. He is what every person in the world should strive to be. A person who helps others unselfishly. Superman is good.

Anyone who tells you otherwise will say he is bad cuz he is boring. But just cuz he does'nt killl everyone he meets or shoot a bunch of guns or spews profanity does'nt mean he is bad. Superman is good.

Superman is a great ICON. If he was real I think we wouldn't have so many problems in the world. I like him because he stands for justice and he saves people that need help.

Superman is iconic, representing the birth of the super-hero comic and perhaps even of 20th Century American Mythology. While the character is an archetypal conglomerate of previous heroic figures, borrowing many powers from Classical Mythology such as the tales of Jason and the Argonauts, Siegel and Shuster combined their creation with the burgeoning genre of science fiction to create an altogether new archetype which has defined and set the standard for all following super-heroes in and out of graphic literature.

Many fans despise the Kansas-raised-"boy scout" morality adopted by Superman, ridiculing the character for being archaic and out-moded after post-modern moral-relativism became prevalent in graphic literature. These fans would prefer gritty characters serving harsh and lethal justice to sate their sense of injustice and seem to demand this of any character to be legitimately realistic characters in modern graphic literature.

I would suggest that, while these values must necessarily be represented in modern comics to offer any valid diversity in viewpoints, especially as a reflection of values shifts in the past sixty years, Superman must be and is the exception to prove the rule of moral-relativism as reflected in our escapist avatars of justice in graphic literature of our time.

Therefore it is intrinsic to the modern role of Superman to retain his characterization as a "boy scout" for the character to have any relevance at all. In a sea of grim and indistinguishable vigilantes dispensing dubious justice and bordering on psychosis, Superman is archaic, but necessarily so; Superman stands as a beacon of righteousness and simplistic goodness for which we should yearn. Without Superman’s “old-fashioned” morals, the character would likewise be impossible to tell apart from the rest of the multitude of anti-heroes over-populating the pages of graphic literature since the comic-boom in the nineties.

So, while some may consider Superman “boring” and useless due to his morals, I firmly believe that it remains his morals alone that make Superman a relevant figure in comics to this date.

I like him for his heroism and morality, however, vigilant justice is not an appropriate representation to present to youth, or any group for that matter. We consider Superman the exception because he has powers, but what if we all took justice into our own hands? Not good.

SUPERMAN he's so cool.

Superman was terribly bored with fighting crime, so one Friday night he decided to go out on the town to have some fun for a change.

He dropped by Batman's house. "Hey Batman," he said. "Wanna' go out tonight?"

"No, I can't," replied Batman. "The Batmobile is broken and I gotta' stay home and fix it, or else I won't be able to fight crime."

"You loser," said Superman, and he flew away in disgust.

He then decided to stop by Spiderman's house. "Hey, Spidey, how about hitting the town tonight, you and me," he said.

"I'd love to, but I can't," replied Spiderman. "My web-slinger is jammed and I gotta fix it in order to fight crime."

Superman, all disgusted, quipped: "You loser. Go ahead--stay home on a Friday night and fix your damned web-slinger."

He again flew away.

While flying around the city looking for something to do, his super vision spotted Wonder Woman lying on her back, stark naked and spread-eagle!

Superman thought, "Hey, I'm Superman, so I can fly down there at the speed of light, have a quickie and she'll never know the difference!"

Wonder Woman said, "What the hell was that?"

The Invisible Man said, "I don't know, but it hurt like hell!"
