there are about 10 shows id like to erase, and on the dvr screen i erase all the shows ive seen, and hit cancel when im done...i pull the screen back up and all the shows ive erased are back on again....i have tried turning the dvr off for a few minutes, but that didnt solve the problem. the shows still come back after i've erased them.

i've had this unit for 2 or 3 years, so i know i am using it correctly...(but no, i was not insulted..no worries!)....i am am work tonight, but i will try both of your suggestions tonight when i go home...thank you for all the help so far!

This may help.
Unplug the DVR from the wall (or press the power button for more than 15 sec.). It will force a hard reboot.

make sure your shows you want to delete are not "protected"

Sounds weird. Not to insult your intelligence, but I think you might be going about it the wrong way.

You should go to your DVR menu (DVR button 2x) and select 'edit'. Then checkmark all the programs you want to delete, hit the 'right' button to go to delete, and it should ask you to confirm. Confirm.. wait while it deletes, and then you should be at a menu where you can select 'done'. You should then be back at your DVR menu where you can confirm if those items where deleted. You really shouldn't have to ever hit the cancel button at any point in time. Maybe?? Heck, I don't know. I'm sure Dish Network would be happy to help you out for a great big ol' fat fee.
