You and your parents should go to the pet store and talk to a worker there. You should also rent a book on guinea pig care from your local library. If you are allergic to the bedding that the guinea pig must live in, try a different kind. But, if your allergic to the guinea pig that you get, you must get rid of it immediately, or else you're gonna be very irritated with your sneezing, coughing, and other allergic reactions. But, just make sure you know what your doing when you decide that you really want to take care of the guinea pig. It's not easy by the way. lol. good luck with it!
*also make sure to keep your guinea pig away from other possibley harmful pets that you keep in your household
*guinea pigs LOVE vegetables, so . . . sometimes . . . you should feed your guinea pig vegetables (chopped carrots, celery, lettuce, etc.)*

You need to do a lot of research. If you show your parent's you know what is needed to take the best care of the guinea pig, then chances are they'll be more inclined to let you have one.
Most petstores have "Guinea Pig" starter kits, which come with the cage, bedding, water bottle, and food bowl. Nutriphase is one of the better foods you can feed any small animal. Guinea pigs are really great first pets.
They require vitamin C added to their water and/or in other forms such as oranges. They don't get vitamic C from their food and will die without it, so that's a key thing.
The link below is an over-all caresheet for guinea pigs. To find pictures, goto google and typie in guinea pig, then goto the Images.

I had one growing up, it lived to be 7 years old and was a great pet.
Remember that Guinea Pigs are often active at night, they need to have a clean cage, clean water and fresh food everyday! They also need to be entertained and have a place to hide in the cage, so make sure you allow for enough space. If properly introduced to people, they make very loving and fun pets.
You can go to a pet store and check out some of teh books they carry about properly caring for your giunea pig. Also there is a website you might want to check out for more info http://www.guineapigsclub.com/gp_site/index.asp

You must have two! Guinea pigs are very sociable creatures, and it's cruel to keep them on their own! 2 girls will get on fine, but if you want a boy, you'll either have to get a girl to go with him, (have him neutered), or have him on his own. If you do just get one, then you will need to give him constant companionship. I had two lovely guinea pigs called Wendy and Hazel and they lived to be 7 years old!! Go to http://www.hamsterific.com/BBS/ and click on the Cavy Pops Guinea Pig forum. They can give you all the advice you need. And there's pics too... Mine were both shorthairs. Don't go for an abysinnian, (small 'rosettes' in their fur), or longhaired piggies, as they're hard to brush. As for convincing your parents; the best thing to do is learn as MUCH as you can about guinea pigs, so you know what to expect. Then you can show them/ tell them about all the research you've done. If that fails, stick out your bottom lip!! Do check out the website though, it's really good.

First off are u sure you want a guinea pig? You should get a hamster or a gerbil. Hamsters and gerbils are cuter, less noisy, easier to take care of, cheaper, need less room, etc etc.
But anyways this is how i convinced my parents to let me get my "robo" dwarf hamster.
Okay this is what i did:
I got a rock from outside colored it and made it have eyes and whiskers i got a shoe box and made it a little home with cut up toliet paper and made it a food dish and water dish and i fed it everyday with string, gave it fresh water and all this other stuff. I played with it cleaned its "cage" named it and everything. I did this for about 2 weeks.
After i was done with that i made a powerpoint (or you can make a report) About all the things about the type of hamster i wanted (I wanted a "robo" dwarf) such as behavior, types of hamsters, what they eat, price list and everything. At the end of my powerpint i told them what i did to make my rock pet feel at home. And why i was responsible enough.
Now my parents told me i had to keep up my good grades and i had to pay for everything i needed
Before i did this begged for like 3 days and my parents werent going to let me get one because i owed them $90 in texting...but hey this totally got them!!! =] now im not saying ur parents are like mine but this will at leat get their attention.
Also i dont know if ur religious or not but i prayed for like 3 days that my new hamster would be happy and healthy and he is!!
I seriously suggest doing this. It works so well. My parents flipped when they found out i was this dedicated to getting one.
Hope this helped!! When u do get you cute little rodent i wanna kno its name!
P.S. if you decide you want a hamster/gerbil instead just email me. I can give u some info. (or if you just want info to decided which one u want)
