I have been with my current employer for eight years. In those eight years my boss has been very good to me and helped me out when I got into jams financially. I can't imagine any other company possibly doing what this company has done for me. But at the same time, I work with a woman that is almost unbearable at times to put up with. She's moody and is a germaphobe that drives me nuts. She is the largest part of the reason I am looking around for another job.

Recently I found an ad in the local newspaper that matches my experience and skills. It's in my home town and would be closer to my son's school.

What I struggle with now is do I move on because of one coworker that makes my life in the office miserable? I've begun to stand up for myself more often when it comes to dealing with her but should I allow myself to be run off by her? What factors do you suggest I consider in leaving my current job?

If it unbearable, then yes leave. But make sure you find a job before leaving. Have you consider finding a job within the company first.

I know how hard it is. I left my job cause my female boss and co-worker was unbearable, so I am looking for another job right now. Not been easy... so make sure you find another job first. That's the only advice I cna give you. You never know, you can even get a huge raise at a new job. The good thing about switching jobs is that you pretty much guarantee a $5000 pay raise.

I'd say talk to your boss first. See what they say.

I had a similar problem. Worked for a wonderful vet for 4 years..hated a co worker so much. infact everyone hated her...including the other veterinarians. She was irritating..so when I was on my paid vacation time, I decided to look around. I found anohter job, paid a bit more and had insurance.

I can not even tell you how much I hated that job, only lasted 2 months before I quit...went to another clinic, hated it even more.

It's a give and take...grass is always greener, but I regret leaving the job I had for 4 years.
