They need to be able to express their thoughts and ideas. Communication allows them to assimilate knowledge and broaden their experiences.

I guess I dont really understand your question.
I have a nephew that is Persian and American. So, who determines what his first language is? His first form of communication was sign language. But he now speaks Farsi and English. It was pretty hard for him and he started speaking later than most children. That is why he was taught sign language because he NEEDED to communicate in some form.

It's important if they are monolingual but if they speak 7 languages then the one they communicate in most is the most important. Then when they grow old and get jobs their working language is the most important. Some kids at my school had parents of different nationalities so they grew up bi lingual and hence don't have a first language because they always had two.

Sometimes their parents dont knwo the second language so it will be hard for the kids and parents to communicate. Also, it's their heritage, where they came from they should know it. Last, it's educational and important for people to knwo more than one language when kids grow up knowing more than one language will helo in ther jobs!!!!

In my opinion, it's more important for children to learn to communicate in the language of the country in which they live.
And, while I'm at it, the adults should learn to speak the language if they're gonna live here and use our system.

when you speak your languages then later in life as you get jobs or go to collage that are better then the others that doesn't know how to speak 2 or more languages. if you're in middle school and you can speak and write in other language you can take a test that helps you get more high school credits.(that's what i did (I'm in 7th grade and i already got 2 credits.)and it's helping me)

it incredibly is important for preliminary expertise of what's being taught. although, it incredibly is the two important that all people immigrants, no longer in basic terms toddlers, learn the main important language of that area of the rustic they have settled in. Competency in that language would desire to be a call for of citizenship.
