I'm building a outdoor barbeque , I've heard it's not wise to put plywood under the slab top .?

because it absorbs moisture and contracts and expands in the weather I've heard of granite cracking along the fissures when this happens.

The plywood may also burn as a result of the fire in the barbecue.

Only use motar under the slab top.
