Had a midwife appointment today and brought to her attention that the top of my bump , just under my ribs was hurting to touch. She made me lie on my back then lift my head up. She said I was 'coning' and not to do things strenous and to get up after lying down, by turning on my side then getting up, as it was possible I could rip my muscles apart and I wouldn't want that during labour! I'll follow her instructions but since seeing her this afternoon the pain doesn't feel like a muscle ache (I was an athlete for many years so know muscle aches/pains!) It hurts to touch and I can feel and see, a raised area under my rib area. It's not baby kicking as he kicks on the left hand side of my tum not under my ribs like the last monkey did!! Has anyone else had this? My mum said it could be my liver or intestines being pushed up. It feels like a burning sensation, almost liked someone has 'slapped' my stomach.

Thanks

IM x

if the pain is on the right hand side just under your ribs it could be your gallbladder you may have stones usually brought on with greasy food.good luck with the baby.

I had acid reflux. It didn't feel any thing like I thought acid reflux would feel like. It was a pain right in between the base of my ribs. I thought it was my daughter kicking my liver or stomach or something. It wasn't until after I delivered that the doctor figured it out.
I also know a girl that had problems with her gall bladder during pregnancy and it felt the same as my reflux.

No didn't have that either but closer to due date I was really uncomfortable. She used to kick me a lot especially in the nights. After all she was 4kg 260gr about 9 pounds =) and I'm very petite.
Try not to worry too much..Relax.
Best wishes.

Sounds to me like, it's just the fact that your baby is growing and pushing everything upwards and of course this is normal! Just try to take it easy but i wouldn't worry too much!!

I had the same sort of thing...but mine was from my little man kicking me...my doctor said sometimes the kick so hard it can bruise your insides...kinda weird...but i guess it's true...
