Quite often people find it very difficult to adpot in the United States. The laws in many states are very complicated and in many states the biological parent(s) can claim custody of a child long after the adoption. The waiting time in the U.S. can also be fairly long. Many Americans avoid these proplems by adopting abroad

Mainly because the other countries are still developing and can't make enough money to take care of the kids properly, whereas, even though it is still unfortunate and sad that children are orphaned or given up, the States can provide for these children, whereas adopting children from other countries means the children will have a better chance in a richer country. It's all about empathy and pity as well i suppose

It's a myth that there is an overabundance of unwanted American children if you look at it in proportion to the number of American couples looking to adopt. The average wait is five or more years, as compared to the year or two wait for most international adoptions to go through. Trendiness has little to do with it.

I think it is somehow easier for people to get young children from a foreign country. Plus- the parents have no easy way to find the children later on in life if the children are brought to the US.

Because US children have been dragged out of the arms of their adoptive parents and returned to their crack moms or whatever by order of some judge. I wouldn't adopt an american child either for that very reason.

Because children from other countries tend to be in worse shape (starving, dying from curable diseases, etc.) than children here in the States and are therefore more in need of adoption.

I heard that kids from another country are more grateful and American kids are more spoiled. I don't know that's what I heard.

Because it's trendy. And I think in some instances, it's easier to get a foreign kid. I think it sucks, we should take care of our own country's kids first.
