Yes.Lightning only causes thunder.This can be explained in the following way.Lightning is the arc produced due to sudden discharge of elctricity in the atmosphere as a result of potential difference between clouds or between cloud and earth.Thunder is the sound produced due to sudden expansion of air due to the above arc.In fact lightning is the mother and thunder is the child.

Yes the lightning is super uper hot right so all the heat and friction cause a big burst of sound called thunder
