I don't think my opinion if myself is necessarily reflective of how others view me. However, the way people think about me who are IMPORTANT to me might influence how I act.
In someone ways, the way people see us is like a form of advice. If my parents or my wife's parents believe I am making a bad decision, then it is important for me to listen to them because they are all kind and wise people. My wife's opinion is very important and has a profound influence on me.
If someone still dislikes me for something I did do them in high school 20 or more years ago, they I won't care much about what they think or say.

If everyone who knows you or had anything to do with you thinks that you can best be described as a part of the human anatomy that starts with an "a" and ends with a "sshole", then you are one.
If you don't realize that everyone thinks that way about you then you're a stupid a$$hole.
If you do realize that everyone thinks that about you but you don't care what they think, then you're a major a$$hole.
