How do i become a Police Officer?

i have a high school diploma... i live in Orange County California. i have a misdemeenor for disturbing the peace... can i still become police officer?... that is my dream. i dont know what to do?.. if i can still becoma a cop.. does anyone know what my first step would be?

college, or join the army first so have more chance get in
