It depends on where you live on how long. It depends on whether you have kids. What is the rush. Got a friend on the side you don't like to be called a cheat? In most states it takes 6 months of you living apart if there is no children. A year if there is children. Divorces are too easy to get anymore. There is no such thing as no fault divorce. Just hold your horses you will divorced before you know so you can do it all over again.

Certain deadlines. Once you receive the papers if you live int he same state as he does, you have 20 days to respond. If you don't respond, they will file a default which gives you an additional 10 days to respond.
Most states take a minimum of 61 days from the date of service of process.

It may take 6 to 8 weeks or so depending on the case and what the lawyers have to do with paper work and all... It just may take another month or so.

Mine took 6 months because in CA you are required to go through a mandatory cooling off period in case one party changes their mind. It may depend on the state you are getting divorced in.

Get a lawyer now. By doing nothing you could be getting screwed in court. Do not let him default you. Protect yourself.
