There are many pro abortion repuglicans as there are many anti abortion democrats, to say that democrats are for abortion is a myth and a conservative talking point. The biggest difference is in economics's dems tax the rich and promote legislation that creates jobs for the poor. Repuglicans give tax cuts to the rich while leaving the poor and middle class behind, they also deficit spend which means that your children and grand children will end up paying more to the government because this debt will come due and have to be paid. This to me is irresponsible, for the future of the U.S.

Not true, first poster! Republicans support businessmen and building their wealth. Democrats also support businessmen and building their wealth. Libertarians do too.
There is little between the mainline Dems and Repubs except the fringe elements. Dems are sometimes about social programs and taking care of people in our society, and Repubs want to let capitalism take care of the people who run the show. Don't believe either party.
Do some more research and decide for yourself what they stand for, because everyone here is just going to spin their answer their particular way.

Republicans state they want to take power away from the government and give it to the people, but in reality, they want to give it to the top 5% of america's elite, and of course, its not given to people, but rather wealthy corporations that are owned or operated by those who support the GOP.
Republicans favor lowering taxes and spending in deficits, while Democrats want to raise taxes to pay for the debt the Republicans usually incur.
Democrats want people to make their own decisions while Republicans want to dictate to the people what they believe is the right decision.
Some Republicans dont believe in evolution.
Some Democrats do nothing more than point fingers at Republicans.
Republicans believe that oil must be conquered, and that alternative energy sources are just "accidents waiting to happen".
Cronyism and Partisanship = Republicans
Democrats = pointing of the fingers, but nothing gets done because they spend all their time pointing out the many, many fallacies of the Republicans.

Republicans believe in privatising part of social security, Democrats don't. Democrats believe that we should spend more money helping other countries, Republicans believe we should spend less money helping other countries. Republicans believe that we should send troops to other countries to secure resourses that will help the american people as a whole and help our economy (oil), Democrats believe we should not send troops to secure resources.

Democrats basically believe the Government should take care peoples needs. Republicans believe people should take care of themselves.
Democrats thus believe in Governement being a huge role in our lives and Republicans see Government as to much a role already.

The basic difference is that Republicans follow a conservative philosophy and Democrats follow a liberal philosophy.
A liberal would say that a proper role for government is to regulate and oversee the economy. Liberals say it's proper for government to ensure that companies do the right thing (such as pay minimum wages), and to ensure that people act responsibly in their finances (such as requiring contributions to retirement savings).
A conservative would say that a proper role for government is to regulate and oversee morality. Conservatives say it's proper for government to ensure that people are punished for immoral acts (such as taking drugs), and that people act appropriately in their marriages (such as banning homosexual marriage).
A libertarian would say that neither of those is a proper role for government. Libertarians say that the only proper role is to maintain an army for defense against invasion, to maintain a court system for ensuring justice, and other constitutionally defined roles.
A populist would say that both economic and moral intervention are proper roles for government.
Some people classify libertarians as conservatives and some classify populists as liberals. Those definitions fall apart when libertarians talk about moral issues like abortion (pro-choice) or drugs (pro-legalization).
Ralph Nader and Pat Buchanan both consider themselves "populists," but the press usually classifies Nader as liberal and Buchanan as conservative. Yet they agree entirely on their most important issue, opposing free trade and globalization.
The problem with a one-dimensional definition like liberal and conservative is that it doesn't define well political reality. The two-dimensional definition is better.

oftentimes, democrats help secularism, republicans do no longer.(they save speaking about God and practice their personal non secular beliefs to help their options.) And their monetary equipment plans are diverse. And their gun administration regulations are diverse.
