It means South by Southwest. South by Southwest (SXSW) is an interactive, film and music festival and conference that has taken place every spring in Austin, Texas since 1987, centered around the Austin Convention Center. Each of the three parts of SXSW run relatively independently, with different start and end dates. The music festival is one of the biggest in the United States, with over a thousand performers playing in dozens of venues around downtown Austin for a week in March. SXSW is the biggest money making public event for Austin, TX - even more so then Austin City Limits Music Festival and the Texas Longhorn football home football games.
