I would love to hear from anyone who had laser hair removal. I would like to know how effective it is. About what does it cost. And how painful it is. Thanks for any help.

I am a blond and went in to have a few hairs on my face hit by laser. My first problem was that because my pigment in not dark, like a brunette, the laser couldn't see it. (even though the hairs had darker pigment) So it didn't work. I am not sure if you are blonde or not but if you are don't waste your money. Now as far as the pain, just a little sting. Nothing to bad at all. It is less than a bee sting. As far as electrolysis, I did that too. It works to a point. Your hair grows in different cycles. You may go in and one section will be growing and you get it, each section needs to be done a few times. But to really get the full effect you have to go in for like a year to catch each cycle. I will tell you that it is more pain full than laser. Especially right before and during your period. I went for 6 months and 1 section was sucessfull. But I will not go back, I will wax. It is a very irritating pain that they have to do and its not as quick of a "Zap" as the laser.

I had it done 6 years ago on the back of my neck and the hair has been gone every since. The first treatment hurt a bit but then it was OK after that. I paid $800 for 5 treatments. My wife had UA and bikini done and she also had great results. The price was around $1250 for both but is dependent on how substantial a bikini area is being done and the location had a mig promotion to get both areas done.

my roommate (also a doctor) has looked into laser hair removal but he has cancer in his family history (his father) so as laser can caue cancer (we think), it is not a good solution for him.

He instead uses electrolysis. Yes, it's painful, but it's worth it to him. I haven't seen the hair on his back (where he's getting it done) but he assures me that it's going away quite nicely. It's a lengthy process for him because it's his back and that's a large area. I like being the "hairless wonder!"

Good luck.
