"donie_b4… Funny how things flip flopped since then isn't it?
Also funny that you have to go back that far to dig up dirt on the Democrats
all you need to do is pick up the paper to find out the Republican dirt "
The only reason you have to dig to find it is because of the liberal democratic bias in the news these days.

Beardog and Puffalump, Nice try but the democrat party did not "become" the republican party in the 1900s. The Democrat party has roots back to the early 1800s. The Republican party was formed in the 1850's. The republicans' anti-slavery stance and the election of Lincoln in 1860 were the main reasons for the southern states breaking away from the Union. The same democrat party that was pro-slavery in the 1800's was pro-segregation after the civil war right through to the 1960s.
Garfield, see the link below for the evidence that you were looking for.

Yep, just like they were the party of slavery, we'll say about 150 years ago. What's your point? Both parties have made fundamental shifts in their philosophies throughout our history, maybe you should pick up a book before you generalize or try to apply the past to the present. Moron.

The Democratic Party of 1863 bears no resemblance to the Democratic Party of today. Same goes for the Republican Party.

in my view their movements have been deeper than they're being given credit for. i think of they're calculating a message like 'see, see what is going to take place to long island if a mosque is geared up here? people will commence scuffling with in the streets.'

It was portrayed in Gangs of New York.
Both parties are now firmly anti-slavery. I'm no fan of the Democrats, but give them their due.
PS Notice how the South is called "racist" when it votes for a Republican for president, but not when they voted for Carter and Clinton? Another double standard.

Anybody with a picture like that representing their entity on yahoo answers should not be taken seriously. And who gave this character the right to call African-American people "blacks"? This guy's parents didn't do their job.
