Some come to be self-righteous and make a mockery of how Christians are supposed to behave by being hateful.
Some come because they simply can't stop thinking about gay sex.

Well I think that any discussion even if it offensive in nature is an open window for both sides to learn from one another. If no one discussed anything than few people would ever be able to benefit from the thoughts of someone else.
Does that mean it is right for people to make personal attacks against someone else? No. I don't agree with that, but even in that case sometimes things can be turned around.
You never know when something you have said might lead someone to question their own stance.
Like perhaps if you carefully explain your stance someone who you refer to as a "biblethumper" might hear your words and eventually come to understand them.

Have you ever heard of the Freudian defense mechanism called "reaction formation"? Its when someone feels a certain way (gay, perhaps) so they act the complete opposite way in order to remove the threat that being gay imposes on their ego (like, remember the abusive military father of that boy in American Beauty?). It takes a strong person to admit to themselves and others that they are gay. These are often people who are not ready or willing to do this. I think that they find themselves on this page because they are secretly curious, or even homosexual themselves.

Some are genuinely nice people. Most are hypocritical bigots. Almost all listen only to the aspects of the bible they want to. ALL of them ignore the passage that says
Matthew 7:1
Judge not, that ye be not judged.
Of course this is just another passage that is conveniently ignored by them.

not all people who disagree with homosexuality are "biblethumpers", just so you know. some people believe one man one woman and still don't believe in god.
but anyways, those who are preeching believe they're doing god's will, even though they're really just making some homosexuals hate christians.
now we have homosexuals who are prejudice against christians because many christians are prejudice against homosexuals.
these "biblethumpers" are very wrong, but please don't assume all people who disagree with homosexuality believe so because it is god's way.
thats ignorance too.

Some of them have good intentions, they are truly trying to put us on their preconceived "path of righteousness". However, the others are just bored with their lives. Maybe Betty Sue actually came to church this week, so they need something new to gossip about.

Bible-thumpers don't feel like they're truly alive unless their bibles are being thumped. As a non-traditional, non-Bible-based, THINKING Christian, I feel there are a million other things Christians should be thumping their Bibles about - like poverty, innocents dying...

Could be as you stated. Or very unfulfilling sexual lives. Or they're closet cases.

They're just bitter because they don't get enough enjoyable sex. They could probably use some fiber, too.
