Reset it or Restore it.

To reset it, toggle the hold switch left and then right and leave it there. Now press the center select button and menu button the same time for 6-8 seconds.

If that does'nt help, connect it to your computer and in iTunes click on your iPod. In the summary page make sure your iPods software is up to date and hit the restore button. This will load a new OS on your iPod.

****Restore will wipe out all music on your iPod****

Sounds like the battery may not be holding a charge, or little charge..

The scroll wheel might also be broken, this would cause it to go crazy when it is not paused..

if under warranty you might want to get it to a i-store

I suggest you either take it back to where you got it from, check out the Apple website or go and ask someone else who might help (in a shop or something)..
Good luck!

Have you tried reverting it back to it's factory settings using iTunes? if that doesn't work, take it to any electrical store (Uk: Currys Us: Radio Shack) and ask their advice
