Being able to fully understand the feelings and hardships of someone else. If you have empathy, you are sensitive to the feelings of others to a point that you can feel good about their celebration as well as sharing in their sorrow.

An empath is someone that is in tune with the feelings of others. Like when you see someone hurting & you seem to feel as bad as they do, understanding what they are going through.

Empathy is like sympathy only deeper.
With sympathy you only relate to another's feelings.
In empathy, you experience them as deeply as if they were yours.
In fiction, a person who has that ability is also called an "empath."
