type of lizard
age of lizard
size of lizard (svl= snout vent length)

Many species of lizards are sexually dimorphic (sexes appear different) throughout their lives. Others are similar looking as juveniles and physical differences between the sexes become apparent as they reach sexual maturity. Knowing the type of lizard you have would make it much easier to answer this question. There is no general rule that applies to all genera of lizards.

male lizards have a larger head and slimmer body than females and a bulge at the base of tail right where it meets the body underneath, it will be like a small bulge. females have a chubbier body and smaller head. and at the base of their tail, it's just flat around the private area. when lizards r 6 inches and under, it's harder 2 tell cuz their still juvies.

I DID TRY TO LOOK THIS UP.I HAD NO LUCK.
I KNOW MY SON WANTED A LIZARD FOR HIS B-DAY SO I CALLED OUR PET SHOP.THE GUY I SPOKE WITH WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT LIZARD'S. I THINK THEY COULD HELP YOU.

You almost need to have an expert do it if it is of a species that does not make it obvious. It involves looking in the cloaca. (You don't really want to know.)
