I have been on the pill for the past 3 years due to my period not being regular... I was told I have polistic ovaries and its better for me to stay on the pill until i'm older and want to conceive... I am really scared now about this.. I asked my gynacolgist and she said that firstly:

1) being on the pill does NOT cause infertility
2) and polistic ovaries doesnt either?

She said I just have the apperance of this condition on my ovaries and it is very common... but no symptons? im very confused and scared I can be infertile... can anyone help me with this please.... :-s

You should have your potential condition reassessed by a person who specializes in PCOS.

As for the pill making you infertile, this is BUNK. I have used the pill or the shot for nearly 20 years and my fertility risk factor is based on age, not on prolonged hormone usage! You are more likely to have fertility issues from PCOS than you would be from using the pill....IF you had PCOS. And even this can be treated.

Like I said, get a 2nd opinion and don't listen to the naysayers about pill-related infertility.

I have no idea about polistic overies, but I was on the pill because my periods were irregular, and when i stopped I was pregnant that same month. Then after the birth I got back on the pill, I got back off of it it was called yasmin, and i think it got pulled off the market, so when i stopped again (my son was 9 months old) boom, got pregnant again. I am happy to say that the worse symptom of mine is that I can get pregnant on my period or whenever my body feels like ovulating I just dont have a regular cycle, but the pill helped with regualting it, so that when i did plan to get pregnant it I was able to chart it. If anything, LOL it helped!

Your doctor is your best source.

I was on the pill for years and had no problem when I wanted to get pregnant.

Don't know anything about the other condition but if your doctor says it isn't an issue - I would trust them.

If you are irregular it might be hard to get pregnant because of this (don't know when your eggs are there).
