I don't know what country you are from but often in America celebrities are refered to as "stars". Hence the Hollywood star walk, and Dancing with the Stars.

Because they were hoping to get more attention and a bigger audience. Of course they are all C-List stars, typically from 10-20 years ago. They are the only ones who would acyually do something so taboo to get re-recognized.

As in stars they mean celeberties. But they don't have any good celeberties, so I'm guessing they mean if you win you will be dancing with the celeberties.
