The only way of knowing that the person we vote for is what shows up in a count is by Paper. If a voter requests a paper ballot, they must be given one.
Many of our poll workers are aging and tired. Will this younger generation step up and volunteer to work the polls in the 2008 elections?
Will someone provide information how a citizen can volunteer?

Demand? Who are you to demand anything?!

Sorry, yes i think we do need to demand paper ballots because we can see the kinds of problems that electronic voting can have. There was a poll which came out before the elections last year which said nearly a majority of people were not confident that their votes would be counted correctly. If there is not confidence it the election process then our country fails to be a democracy.

I live in illinois and we have electronic voting but after you vote it also prints up a back up paper ballot. Why is that so hard for places like florida and ohio?

The good news is that many democrats took over states in 2006 which had been controlled by republicans in the past few elections, so it is possible that many of these crappy electronic voting machines will be gone by 2008.

Electric balloting is still the most effective way to vote in my opinion as long as the machines are in good working order. In some smaller areas paper ballots may be a good way but not in the larger areas.

I'm working on Hillary's campaign, and I always volunteer to work the polls. I've never requested a paper ballot, but it's a thought.

We HAD paper ballots in 2000 and the dems couldn't figure them out. Now we have electronic voting and the dems still complain.
