Are you not a teen? Not much is different about being a teen. Except everything (school, mostly) is a lot harder and stresful, your more angsty and you hate just about everything.

Hello,
I was a teenager from 1982 through a little more than half of 1989. There were video games then, but they tended to be played in arcades more than at home, because personal computers were only just starting to take off (I guess after 1984 actually). I think the internet has been around since 1969 (just like me), but pretty much in use by just the military and at universities, and by some people who might have been called "geeks" then but who are now probably laughing all the way to the bank; but for all intents and purposes, there was no internet for widespread use until 1993. Teens then and now still seem to hang out at malls a lot and travel in packs. A mark of distinction was having a boombox and/or a cassette walkman, as CDs were just starting to come around. Actually, I guess vinyl records started to phase out around maybe the mid-1980s, then there started to be Chromium Dioxide cassettes (CRO_2), an improvement on older tapes and there was also the rise of cassette singles. CDs started surfacing more and more in the late 1980s, but tapes were still a strong market. Sorry, that was a bit of a tangent, but I was just trying to give a perspective of what was out there. From my perspective, it seems like the music wasn't so angry then as it sounds today. But I could be way off. So technology was definitely on the rise, but there was not the "pressure" to know the latest and greatest thing on the market.

Being a teen is about being the smartest person in the world and still not having any money!!! The reason is because teens think they know everything!! ha ha!!
If you're going to be a teen soon, don't sweat it. Don't let your friends make you do something that you know is wrong. Don't drink excessively. Listen to your parents, the really do know best. Have some fun!

All ages are different from each other. Teens are probably different in many other ways. Most Adults already feel settled with life, but teens are just starting to figure out who they are and what they want to be... They are confused so they try doing both good and bad things, which may cause them to drink, smoke, do drugs....

Following is what is different about being a teenager in their heads. Actually there is nothing much different being a teen. You are opening yur eyes to the world and learning about life. That is all.
Teenagers:
f you are tired of being hassled by unreasonable parents, now is the time for action.
Leave home and pay your own way while you still know everything.

I was a teenager 20 years ago, so a few things have changed since then. Kids mature physically a lot sooner, they have more technology at their fingertips, and have a lot more freedom, in my opinion. I would think that teenagers these days have nothing to look forward to...as tweens, they got it all... the first kiss, the cell phone, getting all dressed up for a dance, etc. Maybe the could look forward to driving and voting (but who looks forward to voting nowadays?) Hopefully graduating and earning a living would be something different to look forward, but again who wants to?? Some folks stand in line for 3 hours for food stamps, but won't work part-time-4 hours- to save a life!!. Lets face it, you're grown at 12. Now what are you gonna do with the rest of your life?

Being a teen is about having more responsibilities and teens should have more freedom. Your parents should see you are growing up and give you more freedom as weel as more responsibilities. Being a teen really means that you are getting ready for adulthood. But remember don't rush into things and keep things slow you don't really want to grow up to fast as you will miss out on all the good stuff on your way!

Go for quality, not quantity. The difference in being a teen is you will undergo hormonal Armageddon. Most people get through it, but it's going to be an intense 7 years. Good luck with that.

1) The internet. We didn't have the internet until I was a senior in high school.
2) Hollywood influences. When I was a teen, the influences were small but today they are sub-zero.
3) Studies are proving that the further we evolve, the meaner school girls become to each other. It was terrible when I was in school, and I almost fear for my children.
When my children become teens, I expect to have a little more communication and trust.
