most surgeons would advise that you get put to sleep. it is a pretty painful proceedure to get a nose job. they are going to peel the skin off your nose, reshape the cartilage then redrape the skin over the new framework. would you want to be awake during that? if your having a minor alteration done there is a possibility that the doctor would offer the option of twlight anestesia where you will be put under but not be totally unconcious.

There is no question yes you would. What they do is break your nose then they cut the skin flip you nose up by your eyes then take the bone out and put in a new sculped piece for you new nose then they sew you back up and fill you full of pain medication then they wake you up. If you think you can do that without being asleep then go for it and let me know how it was.

depends on the extensiveness of the surgery and the preference of the surgeon. I had rhinoplasty and was awake for the entire procedure, and it was quite extensive...but there were other reasons why they could not at the time give me a general anesthetic. So no, it isn't an absolute.
