not everything "happens for a reason in the best of all possible worlds" (quote from the satire candide). Sometimes life just happens. We have no knowledge why or how or if there's even a purpose, but in the end we must create what we perceive to be a life worth living. The purpose and desire of doing so is what keeps the world going, and what keeps man strong.

E. Spinoza once wrote (in a book that I've snce forgotten the title of) that it is not truly more sad for a six year old child to die than an elderly gentleman.
They have the same exact thing-
