Who could beat them--the Cavs, Miami,etc...?

As a Pistons fan, I wish I could be so optimistic. Health is a primary concern. Chauncey's health has proven to be a real issue this year. If he has to take 2-3 games off during a series, that would spell real trouble for them.

That said, their best chance is to meet Miami in the playoffs as early as possible. Right now, they are relying Shaq, and that is having an impact on players that had previously struggled. Working Wade back into the system is going to take time.

Cleveland showed last year that they can defeat this team, though the Pistons would be a clear favorite in that match up, barring injury.

As such, I would give the Pistons about a 60% chance of reaching the finals. A favorite, but certainly no lock.

No. Detroit is good, and not a bad team. Unfortunately, they got away from what made them a great team the overthrew the Lakers back in 2004 and almost the Spurs in 2005. Defense, defense, and more defense. This team was not built to be the Pheonix Suns or the Washington Wizards. They don't want to a score 110-105. They want a score more like 81-89 or 76-88. They used to be an excellent defensive team under Carlile and Brown. Now, their defense is not bad, but not fear inspiring. The way the used to lock teams down, turn the game into a grind match, make other teams bend to their will was a work of art. I'm a Pacers fan, and we had the same game really, but they were always way better defensively against us.
On the offensive end, when the game would be bogged down, and nobody would score, Rip Hamilton was there to always drop 24 points to edge the Pistons on. Rasheed would provide the low post threat whenever nessasary and Billups would finish. Now with Flip, and without Ben, they score a lot but its sloppy. Rip doesn't run of screens like he used to, Rasheed thinks he is Ray Allen at times, and they Webber is trying to run the Princeton offense in Detroit.
So no, they will go to the Eastern SemiFinals and get beat. A very good team they are, but a great team they are not anymore. They need to start over while some players they have are still marketable.

With Cleveland only 1.5 games back and with 16 games to play, anything can happen. And you never know what will happen in the playoffs - remember that last year they won the East by 12 games and didn't make the finals. LeBron and the Cavs have another year of playoff experience and could elevate their game even more than they did last year when they took Detroit to 7 games (and the Pistons had to win both Games 6 and 7).

They're not a lock to win the East, because the basketball can take some strange bounces, but its definitely theirs to lose. The Cavaliers are a year away, The Wizards are inexperienced, and if Wade's not healthy, Shaq cant do it alone. Barring serious injuries, Detroit should be in the Finals come June

I don't, I think they have a good chance to take it though. Prior to Chris Webber coming, I thought it was going to be Cavs or the Heat maybe Bulls(no offense to Washington fans but they have no interior D, so don't expect any contention there). But now they are an offensive force with C-Webb, he makes them more efficient with his crisp passing, and low-post scoring. I think they will be the Cavs, Big Z is on the decline, Larry Hughes is a over-paid chucker who has no impact with his terrible shooting on the defense of the Pistons, and besides Lebron, no one stepped up last year, I expect similar results with a similar club. Bulls won't, their offense is stagnant, and they are a jump shooting team. The Heat look like the likely team to take them down, but unlike last year they won't play 4 on 5(Wallace is a defensive monster, offensive albatross) with Webber playing Center providing points. With all this said I think Detroit has a very good chance.

East is wide open. Guarantee the Bulls will give them a fight, and a reunited Wade and Shaq playing at full potential would be a threat as well. Detroit has a good shot, but I would not call them a lock.

They are a lock. But, if Wadecomes back healthy, the Heat could give them a challenge. Plus, you can't ignore the Cav's, because afterall they do have Lezbron James.

confident, I do desire the Ray's win the AL East as for the pink Sox to seize as much as the Yankees i in my view do no longer care, because of the fact it won't remember who performs the Rays or in the event that they win the main of something, i'm merely proud to be a Ray's fan and happy they're the place they're at. confident i in my view do no longer choose the Yankees to win, yet hiya they play with their hearts and that's what concerns. they are going to win it for George and dedicate it to him.
