I myself, as a Persian, always try to assure myself that there're some little numbers of people at the west who really like (or at least don't hate) Persians. This's very important for me to know what do you really think, for example this one sounds promising :

If anyone forms an opinion of the Persians based on that film, they're pretty ignorant.

That's about as sensible as someone hating me because I live in the Southern United States and we were known for our slavery.

What do I say. I neither like or dislike the Persians as a group because I honestly do not know enough to make such a sweeping generalisation. However, I do know quite a few Persian individuals (10 at the last count) and have read quite a lot of books by Persian authors. From my friends, aquaintences and reading matter, I have developed the impression of "love of life", generousity, kindness, enthusiasm and directness. If Persians generally are like those that I am lucky enough to know, then I would really like them.

First of all Persia doesn't exist any more, it is now Iran, a terrorist state.

The graphic novel (comic book) '300' and the movie: 300 are not to be taken seriously and do not portray either Greeks or Persians accurately. Don't forget that there was a hunched back deformed Greek, Ephiates, who was a traitor to the Spartans, so it wasn't just the Persians who were portrayed as monsters. Also those actors were northern European Shakespearean thespians and not Greeks, and the other actors were Afro-Americans and not Persians.

The movie 300 is not accurate and is not a historical documentary. The movie 300 is an experimental depiction of a comic book. It had great visuals and really cool fight scenes and thats about what it was supposed to do. So if you're of Persian descent don't take it seriously.

I am sure there really are lots of people who like you for who you are. We are not all bigoted. There is good and bad in all cultures and societies. I can personally say I have never hated anyone, and am well traveled so I think it gives me a broader view of different cultures. Persia has an amazing history, with a great culture, which has positively enriched our lives.

I have nothing against Persians. I went to college with a nice girl from Teheran.
