Geoscientists do not have an answer as to what caused Pleistocene glaciation. I have heard some speculation (or theories) about altered wind patterns due to the uplift of the Himalaya Mountains, or decreased temperatures due to an increased production of calcium carbonate (in limestone), thus decreasing the total carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, but there is no definitive answer, only speculation.
