Simply wear a singlet underneath your shirt. I think in America they are called wifebeaters (over here we have alcohol called wifebeater lol)

Try attaching a clothes pin to end of each...it will keep them from coming in contact with the steam.

assuming that you're a male... how about try wearing a tight fitting cotton or lycra material singlet underneath your work clothes? Alternatively, you can lather them with moisturizer often to lessen those friction. If all else fails, try using nipple tape, available at lingerie/swimwear sections of department stores. Good luck! *smiles*

If you are male, then you could put some sticky tape over them. This does sound strange, but a lot of runners do this, especially during a marathon to prevent chaffing.

Try rolling them between your thumb and fore finger while closing your eyes and sighing. Try to do this in front of the cooks and porters if possible, they might be able to help if your hand gets tired.

try wearing a neoprene apron, and some type of clothing that does not retain moisture, such as spun poly-propylene fleece sweat shirts.

This is a more common problem with runners and running stores actually have a product called nipple protectors. You could try that.

I have been a restaurant manager, and have done plenty-o-dishes in my lifetime. I have never had chafed nipples. I think this question is an attention getter.

Buy a set of those paste on nipple covers that the starlets wear--or bigger band-aids.

Put some clothes on! Just kidding. Maybe some lotion would help?
