Not if you are doing it on private property as an employee or for your own business.
It is fairly easy to drive, just get some practice first before doing any real work.

Don't believe so. I worked at a plant where a guy operated a forklift and he was legally blind, walked all over town. They quit letting him drive after he let a pallet down on somebody's foot.
It is not too hard to drive a forklift but you have to be very aware of your surroundings, speed and where weight is centered.
Usually big companies have training classes. Mine was a whole day thing.

Yes, I worked in a warehouse in Tacoma, WA. They required a licence. Anywhere you go, you have to have a licence to drive a forklift. The test is easy, you go in and take a class. Not very expensive.

You need to pass a competency test and be certified. Often trucking schools have classes for forklift certification and reach truck certification. Some companies and employers can also certify, but their certification is not transferable to another company if you change jobs.

I'd agree with you, pure bollix. If you have certification for driving the flt, the possession or otherwise of a provisional road licence is of no use whatsoever. They might as well say the insurers insist that you wear purple socks!

Depending on your state most require the employers to qualify all rolling stock drives. License? Not if on private property.

Not unless you plan to drive it down the highway or public streets. On private property you shouldn't require a license.

You dont need to have a drivers liscene but you will need training for it. Most companies will not let you drive a fork lift unless you have a certificate.

A C-1 light industrial license, if using it at work. Talk to your employer and they will test you (through your state osha office) at least that is how it is in Michigan.
