becouse a want to play my ps2 games aswell!

Yes, it will play a lot of the older games, but not all. Also Sony has recently downgraded some of the hardware to cut costs and hopefully make the units profitable. One of the drawbacks was that less games were going to be backwards compatible.

yes, the large majority of PS2 discs will be able to function without a problem. Some games have reported some glitches in backward compatibility, but I think those have been resolved with new softwares installed.

The PS3 is almost entirely backwards compatible with the PS2... Unless you're in Europe.

will the PS3 is a different kind of system than the PS2 but i think it can play PS2 discs.

Yes it does. Just like ps2 played ps1 games, ps3 plays ps2 and ps1 games. On ps3 you can play ps3, ps2, and ps1.

Yes, it plays blu-ray movies. PS-1, PS-2 regular DVD's and CD's. You get the whole package if you're willing to spend $500-.

no i dont think so, it should say on the disk whether its compatible on ps2 as well as ps3

yeah. You might have to get a chip though like the X-box 360
