Nursing is an excellent career choice. The demand will always be there. Where you intend to practice is another story. If you stay in the Philippines, you may not be happy with the pay scale. However, I do strongly suggest you accumulate enough experience right there in the homeland first - like maybe 2-3 yrs - the training there is like no other. You'd be well-versed in all facets of nursing and then some. When it's time to consider greener pastures outside the Philippines, your experience will really come in handy. You'd be amazed at how much salary they are willing to offer.

Good luck.

Lushbabe, I think you mentioned it in general, should be proud of yourself..what you said is also the reason why I didn't take nursing course...but another course that is related to.
For you John, it is a good career choice, when you feel that this is what you really want to do, no matter what the pros and cons, I think you can handle it very well. If you work in abroad, some patients have bigger body built and it needs a lot of lifting work and energy for the rest of work.

i think for a filipino from the philippines, they are going to have it harder. all the real hardcore nasty stressful stuff will most likely be given to them because they are the ones willing to do the job. the other non-filipino nurses may not have that problem, i know that when no one else wants to do the job, who else gets assigned but the filipino nurse... but just go become a nurse, then practitioner, ull practically be a doctor. it will be worth it, thats what i thinik

the pros, of course, the security, decent pay, compared to the next to zero salary in the philippines. thats why i would consider nursing.

If you are highly motivated and kind hearted then this is the profession for you. Working as a nurse needs lots of patience and dedication. If you are planning to work abroad be prepared to suffer homesickness in the first few months and then if you got a family back home then be strong and find the will to stand being away from them . Money is good but by the end of the day get your priorities straight. Goodluck.

Binibining Pilipina is oh so right!
It's easy for you to work abroad especially nowadays that Nurses are in demand in the Phils. & abroad.. but before that you will undergo a lot of hardships like exams, being a nurse intern & you have to spend more efforts & big amount of money.
The only thing is it's too stressful, you have a lot of things to study & too risky for your health since you're dealing with sick patients not just physically & also psychologically--- you can also consider the culture & religion of your patients then if you do something stupid you will be reprimanded by the heads and worst is you're going to say bye-bye of your hard earned license.
Once you're already a nurse you will know all those precautions for those diseases & some nursing interventions on dealing with your patients, medications, therapies & some of the medical managements as well..
Being a nurse you should be versatile, smart, creative, very very patient, alert & a hard worker. It also wiipes away all your phobias especially bloods, hospitals, diseases, & other pathogens. LOL!
Good luck! (--,)

To me, nursing is a vocation, a calling. You must really love to take care and give caring for people to be able to succeed in this career.

So ask yourself, do you have the qualities of a good nurse? If not, then maybe nursing isn't for you.

well yah!!!for me, it'll ony be a good career if YOU'LL use it to help your other fellow filipinos and not just to earn money while leaving all the people here with no one to take care of them....and when you grow old, where do you else will you go back?

im sure a majoity of them would say that they would want to retire here in the philippines...thats kinda shitty!!leave here and do nothing, then come back just to be one of the burdensd??not really burdens....ut that sort of things....come on!!wecan do better than that!!

if you want a goodcareer...be a political scientist!! LOL!!!
