they die even though they were known jerks. I'm not saying people should be mean but it's necessary to bold face lie about things.

I dont know who you are referring but in history there have been some great people and still are today, i.e Nelson Mendella, Martin Luthur King, Malcom X., Moses (pbuh) Jesus (pbuh) Mohammed (pbuh) and lots of other people, they all made difference to society and the world, even somone named Bell who invented the telephone, little things like this can make someone great, i mean why not? they work hard , use their brain do sometings which others cant do, so i would say they are great and not jerks.

Public relations. They just don't want to be the one who is seen as rude for telling the truth. I have known too many people whose deceased parent or other family member was abusive and awful to even try to say nice things at their funerals. It's just keeping up appearances, just like people covering for drunks and wife beaters because they are well known/famous.

When someone dies, we usually think of why we would miss them. We certainly wouldn't miss their bad habits. Also, we want to comfort their family so the comments are positive. I don't think that it is a bold face lie when we do this. We are just using good manners.

Sweet Pea...I was just arguing with my idiot man about the very same thing!!!!

He always told me about what a saint his dad was then come to find out his dad was a drunk that made his 2 kids go without new clothes their entire life (till 18) just so he could have cartons of smokes and booze! He even bought them used undies on occasion!!

He worked, owned properties, partied hard, played with the pretty ladies while his 2 kids sat in old, junkie clothes and could not even get 5$ to go to the movies with their friends in middle school because he could not "afford" it!

These 2 kids watched ALL of their cousins go to private schools, get new clothing, toys, allowences, ect.

Their aunts were 1/2 as financially well off as their dad btw. Their aunts borrowed the $$$ from their dad to finance their kids (cousins) educations and school trips! Uh, Hello...your kids are in rags (I saw the pic's of them in their school rags.It was not a lie btw)
And your giving the $$$ you say you don't have to their cousins to go to France with their 9th grade French language class's BUT Your own son's can't get 5$ on a Fri. to go to the movies?!

Now all grown up you have my man and his bro in their 30's that are pretty bitter upon occasion. They don't ever want to be reminded of their dad's crap. When they see their Dr. and lawyor cousins getting their first homes bought for them by their parents they get mad at the wasted life they had. For good reasons.

When he says things about his dad the "Hero" I get upset. One time he made a crack about my dad (RIP) spoiling me (he was an only dad too) atleast I was not sportin used undies bro!

'Jerk' is relative. My wife thinks I am sweet, by friends think I am witty, people at work think I am one thing, and everyone else thinks I am another. Most people would be shocked to hear my wife talk about me, because they never see that side of me.

So, although I would be eulogize dby my loved ones and those who knew me best, those I work with and come into contact with would have their own words.

It is al relative.
