Texas, if youre talkin about the continental US.
If youre talkin about all 50 states, then its Alaska.

Alaska is by far the largest state , in area, of all our 50 states. It only ranks 48th in population with 600,000+. I do believe that since Alaska is on the continent of North America that it is also part of the continental US.
Alaska is also the Western most state, look at a map. Alaska is also the Eastern most state, again look at a map. The Aleutian Islands, part of Alaska, lie beyond the 180 Meridian which divides the Western and Eastern Hemisphere.
The United States posseses no land mass that could ever become a state larger than Alaska. So, Alaska will always be our largest state. Don't worry it will never be sub-divided since it barely supports it's self.
Alaska also has the highest mountain in North America. Mt. McKinnley,or Denali as it's known in Alaska, is also still growing in altitude. Some day it may be the highest mountain in the world. That is millions of years away and we won't be around to see it.
