Are anonymous letters a good idea?

I'm thinking of sending an anonymous letter to someone from my past, wondering if it's a good idea or not....

I send them all the time. I cannot send letter to our board of education because they will take out my complaints on my child.. so i send them annonymously. Works out just fine and everyone gets the point.
